Collector's Pack Contains: Titanic A Tale of Two Journeys DVD, The Band Played ON CD, The Story of the Titanic Hardbound Book 132 pages, Replica NY Times of the aftermath, Memorabilla Pack: blueprints, telegrams, crew records, Titanic Postcards and much more Take your place in a cramped submersible and visit the wreck of the most famous maritime disaster in history: the RMS Titanic! For a century the story of the ship that never completed its maiden voyage has fascinated the public, featuring in numerous hit films such as A Night To Remember , Raise The Titanic and, of course, James Cameron s box office smash Titanic . Now, join one lucky member of the public as they get the chance to see with their own eyes the actual remains of the ship. As competition winner Rob Goldsmith travels to the wreck site, south of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic Ocean, we learn about the ship itself and that fateful night in April 1912 when the unthinkable occurred and the unsinkable ship went down, with a death toll of over 1,500 men, women and children. The sheer excitement at witnessing a sight that few people have ever seen (it is thought that more people have gone into space than have seen the Titanic) is in contrast to the scale of the tragedy that took place there, resulting in a uniquely moving and fascinating film for all fans of history in general and the Titanic in particular.

The Sinking of the Titanic
When she set sail from Southampton on her maiden voyage to New York on April 10, 1912, RMS Titanic, the pride of the White Star fleet, was the largest ocean liner in the world. Deemed "practically unsinkable" because of her double-bottomed hull and watertight compartments, she carried more than 2,000 passengers and crew, although only sufficient lifeboats for just over half that number. Four days out of Southampton, on the night of April 14, she struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank within a matter of hours; 1,503 lives were lost. Logan Marshall interviewed the survivors in the immediate aftermath of the disaster and in this book he records the facts as they were known, together with numerous maps, diagrams, drawings, and photographs (including a picture of the actual iceberg that sank the Titanic). Well established as part of the canon of Titanic literature, this book is a must-have for anyone with an interest in the ship and her sorrowful fate.
